Service Projects - Americanism                                                         Service to Youth  ···  Community Service

OneNationUnderGodOne Nation Under God
This powerful program not only emphasizes our rich religious heritage, but also serves to remind all of us that we must trust in a higher power for guidance, protection, and strength. The famous words of the program’s title are, or course, taken from America’s Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. One Nation Under God month is observed annually during November.

AniFlagGiveAKidAFlagToWave
This tongue-twister is a popular project in which we distribute thousands of small American flags to youngsters at parades, fairs, and other publicly attended community events. The flags are absolutely free, make a great souvenir, and hopefully make a good impression on its recipients. This is an effective program that cultivates a deeper sense of patriotism, and heightens young people’s appreciation and admiration for our country’s flag and “...the republic for which it stands.”

FreedomShrineFreedom Shrine
This is an impressive, permanently mounted collection of 30 of the most important and historic American documents-- including the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address. These remarkable documents serve as windows into America’s proud past, showing our nation’s youth the strength and courage of their forefathers by allowing them to read with their own eyes the immortal words of inspired Americans who so decisively changed the course of history.

The objective of the Exchange Club is to install a Freedom Shrine in every school in the nation. However, Freedom Shrines have also found places of honor in universities, libraries, state capitols, airports, city halls, and other public places where they can be studied and admired. You can also visit a virtual Freedom Shrine online at www.freedomshrine.com.

Milestones of Freedom
Consisting of special quizzes based on the Freedom Shrine documents (see above), the Milestones of Freedom program encourages young people to gain a deeper understanding of these documents and their importance in the development of the ‘American Way of Life’. This program is conducted in our local schools at the grade level where the curriculum for American History is implemented.

MilestonesOfFreedomProudly We Hail
No symbol better signifies our nation’s greatness or inspires love and respect of our country than our American flag-- the Ol’ Stars and Stripes. This is why the Exchange Club encourages all Americans to properly fly the American flag as an ongoing highly visible expression of that respect.  This program identifies, recognizes those who do so by honoring them through a presentation of appreciation with a specially designed plaque presented at a regular luncheon meeting.

GetOutTheVoteGet out the Vote
The greatest unrealized political power in this country is held in the hands of people who don’t vote. The Exchange Club has developed this project to encourage Americans to ‘Get Out the Vote’. Each American has the power to vote or not not vote-- an alarming number of us choose the second option, leaving the fate of our country in others’ hands. This program educates and encourages Americans to register and cast their vote on election days.
